Why Estigia?

Una cualidad importante del río Estigia, de acuerdo con las antiguas creencias, era la capacidad de dotar de invencibilidad a quien era sumergido en sus aguas. Lo anterior es de importancia trascendental en el desarrollo de la historia, de acuerdo con la cual, Tetis sumergió a Aquiles en este río a fin de que fuera invencible y que este constituyera una diferencia en el conflicto bélico que prevalecía en ese entonces. Como es bien sabido en dicha historia, la madre de Aquiles le sujetó por el talón al momento de sumergirlo en dichas aguas, quedando fuera del agua y convirtiendo este sitio anatómico en su único punto débil.
